Depending on your hair needs, you can make the decision as to which oils you can add to your hot oil treatment that would most benefit your personal hair needs. If you’re suffering from hair breakage, choose strengthening oils or oils that contain proteins to fortify the hair follicle. If dandruff is an issue that you’ve been dealing with, choose oils that are antibacterial and help combat flaky scalp, such as tea tree oil.

What is a dog bath if you can't first get good and dirty while having a ton of fun? We love to play fetch until one of us can't breathe any longer (usually, Sirius is the one out of breath, I am pretty lazy, I must admit. If he drops the ball too far  from me, he knows he has to go get it again, it's pretty funny and the looks he gives me makes me giggle.). Before we took the fated bath of cleanliness, we made sure to get good and muddied up first!

It all started on a day when I needed to shower and get dressed in 10 minutes (are there any other types of days for moms??) and I realized I was completely out of shampoo. Rather than hop out of the shower and mix up a batch of clay hair wash , I grabbed my coconut oil soap and rubbed on my head. ( I figured  Tropical Traditions sells a coconut oil-based shampoo bar , so why not?)

The problem I have with wearing all of the same jewelry all the time is that it doesn’t take long for my pieces to lose their sparkle.

Out of these, the least favourite for the kids was EcoKid. According to Stella, my 10-year-old, it is clumpy and smells too strong. On my end, I never noticed it being “clumpy,” but it is quite thick and takes longer to rinse out.

My family is really enjoying making homemade alternatives to many products around our home.  If you do not have the time or inclination to make your own homemade natural hand sanitizer you can hop over to my Etsy store and buy a bottle, just click here !

Antibacterial soaps and sanitizers have taken center stage lately with all the scares about various types of flu viruses originating from various animals. Certainly, I can see the appeal of a sanitizer that claims to “kill % of germs” when you have small children at home and illness for one usually means illness for all. The antibacterial label is popping up on all kinds of soaps, especially kids soaps, cleansing wipes, and even adult bath soaps. While I can understand the appeal of the antibacterial label, we don’t use these kind of soaps for several reasons:

I detangle my hair on wash days by lightly raking out big tangle with my fingers while putting my hair into 4-6 flat twists. I then wash my hair with diluted ACV WITHOUT removing the twists.
Once I'm finished washing my hair, I take out a twist, add a light, creamy, leave-in-conditioner (Kinky Kurly Knot Today or Parvenu T-Tree Oil Growth Creme are my favorites), then detangle some more with my fingers and/or a wide-tooth comb.
I finish up with EVOO, and re-twist that section of hair (sometimes into more twist, depending on what I want to do with my hair).

There are two different options that you can choose from depending on what type of hold you are looking for in your hair. Those who favor stiffer holds for mohawks and spiky hair will prefer the heavy hold recipe. Those who are looking for a more texturized hold will prefer the medium hold recipe.  The Hippy Hubby likes to use the heavy hold pomade on his mohawk, while I like to use the medium hold pomade my hair to give my curls a little bit of texture and definition! ( UPDATE – with short hair I love the medium pomade as well! )

Day 1:  The only thing that relaxes me anymore is bathing. I’ve been taking a shower for more than two-thirds of 2017. Eliminating hair-washing from my life for two weeks means more than just an absence of wet alone time. It also means plenty of grease . I’m sweating a lot right now because I’m trying to make it to 100 classes at a certain boutique fitness studio that costs close to $300 a month so that I can get a free pair of logo socks. It doesn’t seem worth it, does it, now that I’m seeing that written down.

Will do and thank you, when you make things, they are valued so much more and plus it’s healthier for you, cannot beat that 🙂
Smiles!!!

Just as you can’t out supplement a bad diet in other areas , topical remedies don’t address the underlying problem that is causing the eczema to begin with.

Wow – I am totally in love with your site. I have a husband and three gorgeous girls and Since making an investment in our health by purchasing a Thermomix last year, it has given me the drive to find other alternatives for our everyday living. You have such a broad range of recipes for household items and I intend on trying all of them. I have just discovered your website an hour ago and am already trialling your homemade deodorant…such a beautiful, natural scent!! I look forward to seeing what else you come up with in the future. Thankyou for giving someone like me, the tools I need to keep my family safe, healthy and whole! Xxx
