Natural shampoo vs no poo

The simplest way to condition is to use apple cider vinegar, in about the same way as you used baking soda: 1 tbsp of the vinegar per 1 ...

Hmm. That actually made a lot of sense to me, and there was Sean reporting lots of good results from his experiment. I decided I’d have to try it for myself, and so I stopped using soap and shampoo the very next day. That was over three months ago now, and I’m still going strong showering with plain old water and none of the fancy stuff.

Will do and thank you, when you make things, they are valued so much more and plus it’s healthier for you, cannot beat that 🙂

I tried this for the first time yesterday, and my hair feel amazing. I was trying the BS and ACV method, and my hair was so dull, and my ends were super crispy. Today it still feels soft and clean. I’m very impressed.

Hello everyone! I’m Ashlee from  The Crunchy Moose , a blog about naturally living. I am a stay at home mom who is passionate about whole food and the local environment. I started my natural journey several years ago after 3 years of back surgeries. Making some simple changes in my life stopped the seemingly endless back surgery cycle immediately and I’m now stronger and healthier than the doctors said was possible. I recently sold my retail store to spend time with my growing family. My son was adopted last year and is now 15 months old. I am also a volunteer at a local, organic farm. I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina and now live with my husband & son in the suburbs of Dallas.

This is officially one of my all-time favorite books, even though it just came out late last year. I should divulge that I'm a…

It all started on a day when I needed to shower and get dressed in 10 minutes (are there any other types of days for moms??) and I realized I was completely out of shampoo. Rather than hop out of the shower and mix up a batch of clay hair wash , I grabbed my coconut oil soap and rubbed on my head. ( I figured  Tropical Traditions sells a coconut oil-based shampoo bar , so why not?)

I suppose it’s time for a hair update. Because I know you’re all on the edge of your seats, wondering if I haven’t washed it in 24 months.

First of all, I have to say, I’ve been blessed to have strange, care-free hair. I used to have stick straight, straw like hair, but then after getting a perm (one of the best/worst decisions of my life) it’s been slightly curly ever since. I can easily diffuse my hair and fix the random non-curly pieces with my curling iron in under 30 minutes.

Eight months ago I decided to try a radical experiment in  natural hair care: I ditched the shampoo . It was a bit like jumping off a cliff (and I’m so  not  a fan of heights) but I decided that there was nothing to lose, so I jumped. And four months later as I look back, I realize that it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Four months in to No Shampoo (often called “No-Poo” on the web) and my hair is so healthy that I have decided to make my experiment permanent: I will never go back to shampoo.
