Natural hair dye henna indigo

Because the red-orange dye molecule is binding to the keratin that surrounds the pigmented hair core, the resulting color is different for every strand of hair, and for every person. The henna stain is translucent, and blends with your own color. Hennaed hair looks like you grew it yourself! The color you get on your hair will vary depending on your hair color you have now and the chemicals you already have on your hair. Many ask if it is safe to apply Henna on color-treated hair and the answer is YES! But it’s only safe to use high quality, body-art quality Henna .

All hair is different and may take longer to soak up color or maybe no time at all. Some hair grows faster while others just plug along slowly. Some colors of hair react differently to different colors. Here’s a list of herbs that work best for each hair color type.

I had heard great things about Lush’s henna line , so while on a vacation in Palm Springs, my good friend and I decided to have a little hair-dying party in our hotel room– where no one could see us make fools of ourselves!

There are also these things called neutral henna and black henna. While these products are all natural and nice, they are not henna. The so-called “neutral henna” will probably be Cassia obovata , that will have all the other benefits of henna except for the color. Black henna in turn is the indigo plant .

Always wearing plastic gloves, apply the indigo to your previously hennaed hair. I have my indigo ready to use immediately following rinsing the henna from my hair in a back to back process. You can do it this way or wait and apply your indigo later. Apply the indigo to your hair making sure to cover hair from roots to ends. Separating our hair into smaller sections will aid in this. When your hair is covered with the indigo, cover your hair with a plastic cap. Then cover with a towel or scarf. Allow the indigo to remain on your hair until desired color is achieved. Performing a harvested hair test will help you determine how long this will take.

Who decides that men look distinguished with grey hair and women don't? This article just seems to validate that stereotype by saying that women "don't have the luxury" of being able to get away with grey hair. You could easily have presented natural hair color options without making assumptions about why someone would want or "need" to use color, that's an unnecessary angle.

Factors affecting the colour result of a natural hair dye
Different hair structure and chemistry such as acidity levels in your hair effect the resulting colour.  For example some peoples hair goes coppery more easily than others. So one particular colour is not the same on everyone.

Because natural hair dyes are semi-transparent the colour you have underneath is going a show through to some extent. For example if your hair is bright red and you apply a brown colour on top of it - some of the red is still going to show through on the first application. Or if your hair is white or blonde and you put a dark colour on top of it may not immediately go dark. If you have stripes of grey the grey may still be a lighter colour. (Also grey hair has a unique structure which renders the colour differently to your none grey hair). Colouring your hair 2 or 3 times allowing at least 12 hours between each application will strengthen the colour.
